England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has urged his team to go all out to win the fifth and final Test against Australia at The Oval.
England regained the Ashes after taking an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series following their innings and 78-run win in the fourth Test in Nottingham.
However, Buttler wants England to go for the jugular and do everything in their power to ensure Australia are handed a 4-1 series loss.
“The side was always confident going into it,” Buttler told Sky Sports. “We would have been massive underdogs knowing the written media around the world.
“I think in home conditions England are very good and tough to beat, so we’ve obviously got some great players and great bowlers to exploit that as well. Everyone obviously wants to finish on a high even though the series has been won.
“Any Test match with England and Australia is a huge game. I don’t think an English side has ever won 4-1 either so that’s obviously a motivation for everyone and to really finish on a high after what’s been a fantastic series.”
