Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews did not feature during the first session of the second day of the first Test against India in Galle as he was suffering from the flu.
According to Sri Lanka team manager Jerry Woutersz, Mathews woke up with a fever on Thursday morning and was rested for the first session of the day after speaking to the team doctor.
Woutersz revealed that Mathews’ condition had taken a turn for the better late in the morning, but it is still unknown whether he will make an appearance for the rest of the day.
