Guyana Amazon Warriors opener Lendl Simmons smashed an unbeaten 65 to not only lead his side to a seven-wicket win over the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, but also help them book their spot in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) semi-finals.
Simmons was brilliantly supported by South African pace bowler Marchant de Lange, who took four wickets.
Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo would not have been pleased with his decision to bat first as opener Cameron Delport was the only batsman to have some kind of impact.
Apart from Delport, who hammered 44 off 30 balls, which included six boundaries and a six, Johan Botha was the only other batsman to surpass the 20-run mark. As a result, the Red Steel were restricted to 117/8 off their 20 overs.
De Lange was responsible for inflicting the most damage as he picked up four wickets, while Devendra Bishoo snapped up two and Sunil Narine and Brad Hodge chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 118 to win, the Amazon Warriors got off to a superb start before they lost Assad Fudadin, captain Denesh Ramdin and Hodge in fairly quick succession.
However, Simmons remained calm and composed throughout this period of time and ended up making 65 off 51 balls, which included five boundaries and three sixes, to lead the Amazon Warriors to victory.
Bravo was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Botha claimed one.
Simmons was named Man of the Match.
