The Guyana Amazon Warriors have signed South Africa pace bowler Marchant de Lange and Sri Lanka all-rounder Jeevan Mendis for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
De Lange and Mendis will replace Sri Lanka seamer Lasith Malinga and South Africa all-rounder Justing Ontong as both of them are nursing injuries.
Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Umar Akmal and South Africa all-rounder David Wiese will join the Amazon Warriors later on in the CPL as Tillakaratne Dilshan and Thisara Perera are expected to be called up for the five-match ODI series against Pakistan, which is set to begin on July 11.
Meanwhile, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots wicketkeeper Nicolas Pooran has been ruled out of the CPL due to an injury and will be replaced by Shane Dowrich.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has also been forced to withdraw from the tournament due to international commitments and as a result, the St Lucia Zouks have called up Eddie Leie for the first four games before New Zealand all-rounder Nathan McCullum joins the squad for the remainder of the tournament.
