Kohli: Rain-affected Tests should have reserve days

"If there is a possible result, there is no harm in giving the team, which is dominating, a chance to compete in three sessions and go for a win or earn a draw"

India captain Virat Kohli believes that reserve days should be introduced for Test matches that are affected by bad weather.

Kohli’s comments come after persistent rain led to India’s one-off Test against Bangladesh ending as a draw, which subsequently led to India dropping down to fourth on the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test team rankings.

More than 250 overs were lost during the one-off Test in Fatullah and Kohli feels that India could have beaten Bangladesh if there had been reserve days.

“That is a very debatable question but there can be a thought given to that,” he told reporters during his post-match press conference. “You might add another day seeing the situation of the game.

“If there is a possible result, there is no harm in giving the team, which is dominating, a chance to compete in three sessions and go for a win or earn a draw so that the deserving team can get a result. But I am not sure how the discussions would go on this.”
