Australia opener Chris Rogers has been ruled out of the second Test against the West Indies in Jamaica as he has yet to fully recover from a concussion.
Rogers was hit on the side of the helmet by local net bowler Anderson Burton prior to the first Test in Dominica and subsequently missed that match as well.
“Chris has improved but he is still not 100 percent so we are restricting his training. Therefore he is unavailable for selection for the second Test,” team doctor Peter Brukner said. “While most concussions resolve within a week there is a significant number who remain symptomatic and require a longer period of recovery. Unfortunately Chris is in this category.
“We will continue to monitor his progress and hopefully it will not be too long before he is back to full training.”
Australia won the first Test by nine wickets and therefore have a 1-0 lead heading into the second Test, which starts on Thursday.
