West Indies and Windward Islands wicketkeeper-batsman Andre Fletcher was fined EC $2000 (USD 740.75) for possession of ammunition after he appeared before a magistrate in Dominica.

Fletcher was detained at Douglas Charles airport in Dominica on Friday, but Windward Islands manager Lockhart Sebastian told Dominica News Online that the fine had been paid.

Sebastian added that Fletcher is looking to leave Dominica and get some much-needed rest.

However, Sebastian also made it clear that Fletcher was unaware there was ammunition amongst his possessions when he went to the airport.

“There was no intention of criminal activities,” Sebastian said. “He did not realise he had the ammunition. It could happen to anybody.”
