Proteas pace bowler Vernon Philander will be leaving Nottinghamshire earlier than expected after he was recalled by Cricket South Africa.
Philander was set to represent Nottinghamshire in their County Championship match against Sussex on Monday, but will now be returning back to South Africa this weekend.
Australia seamer Ben Hilfenhaus, who will be Philander’s replacement, will arrive at the club on Tuesday.
“When you sign an international overseas player, you always know there’s a chance that they could be recalled by their country,” Nottinghamshire’s director of cricket Mick Newell said.
