South Africa batsman Justin Ontong has been ruled out of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as he will need to undergo surgery to repair damaged cartilage in his knee.
Ontong was set to play for the Barbados Tridents next month, but will be unable to do so as his recovery will take approximately six weeks.
The 35-year-old was hoping to use the CPL as a launching pad to regain his spot in the national team, but he will now have to do that during South Africa A’s tour of India.
