England still managed to keep hold of their advantage over the West Indies despite Jermaine Blackwood’s magnificent unbeaten knock of 112.

Starting off the day on 155/4, Blackwood and Shivnarine Chanderpaul converted their 56-run partnership into a 93-run partnership, during which Blackwood brought up his half-century, before Chanderpaul was caught by Ben Stokes at cover off the bowling of James Tredwell for 46.

Following Chanderpaul’s dismissal, the West Indies’ middle and lower order collapsed as they went from 192/5 to being bowled out for 295.

Blackwood was the lone batsman left standing as he made a career-best 112 not out, which came off 220 balls and included 14 boundaries and two sixes.

Tredwell was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while James Anderson and Stuart Broad snapped up two wickets apiece and Chris Jordan chipped in with one.

With a 104-run lead in hand, England got off to a horrible start as they lost Jonathan Trott, captain Alastair Cook and Ian Bell early on.

However, Gary Ballance and Joe Root stemmed the bleeding with an unbeaten 64-run partnership before stumps was called.

Ballance finished on 44 off 113 balls, which included five boundaries, while Root remained undefeated on 32 off 45 deliveries, which included two boundaries and a six.

Jerome Taylor was the only bowler to take any wickets.

England ended day three on 116/3 and will continue batting tomorrow at 10:00 local time or 14:00 GMT.
