Mustafa Kamal has resigned as president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after he was not allowed to hand the World Cup trophy to winners Australia following the final in Melbourne on March 29.

Instead, ICC Chairman Narayanaswami Srinivasan gave the trophy to Australia, which led to Kamal launching a scathing attack on him and the ICC hierarchy, calling them “ugly people”.

“My rights were dishonoured,” he said. “After I go back home, I will let the whole world know what’s happening in the ICC. I will let the whole world know about those guys who are doing these mischievous things.

“I’m again requesting that these type of people should be away from cricket, otherwise cricket will be spoilt, cricket will not move forward.

“My earnest request to the ICC is to revisit those things. I’m sure people will find out why I have resigned and they will unearth the truth. Who are these people, what are they doing and how are they running the ICC?”
