Dave Cameron has been re-elected as president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and will now hold the position until 2017.

Cameron defeated his sole challenger, legendary West Indies pace bowler Joel Garner, by 8 votes to 4.

There were doubts about whether Cameron would be re-elected initially since he was heavily criticised for the way he handled the West Indies’ decision to pull out midway through their tour of India last October.

Cameron’s deputy Emmanuel Nanthan was also re-elected as vice-president after beating Trinidad & Tobago businessman Baldath Mahabir by an 8-4 margin as well.

The voting process to decide the president and vice-president of the board came during the WICB’s annual general meeting in Kingston, Jamaica.
