India pace bowler Mohammed Shami has missed the national team’s World Cup match against the United Arab Emirates due to a knee injury.

Shami’s injury is a big blow for India, especially since he has taken six wickets at a sensational average of 10.83 in India’s victories over Pakistan and South Africa.

“Mohammed Shami got a mild left-knee problem and had ultrasound-guided injection yesterday,” India’s media manager, RN Baba, said. “For his long-term management perspective he won’t be available for [the] match against UAE.”
