Sri Lanka opener Lahiru Thirimanne has announced that batting against England was “very easy”.

Thirimanne’s comments come after he scored a career-best 139 not out to lead his side to a nine-wicket win over England in Wellington.

Thirimanne even went on to say that he found it harder to face Afghanistan’s bowlers.

“To be honest, that day Afghanistan’s bowlers did really well, but there was a little bit for the seamers. Today it was very easy for me,” he said. “I only missed out in one match against Afghanistan. Other than that, I have scored runs so I am very happy with my performance.

“I think anything can happen in this tournament. We were one down when things started but we have come back really hard. We still have to play Australia and we want to give our 100 percent and win that match as well.”
