Former West Indies all-rounder Phil Simmons is set to become the national team’s head coach following the conclusion of the World Cup.
Simmons is currently Ireland’s head coach and was present to watch his side stun the men from the Caribbean by four wickets in a highly entertaining World Cup match.
A source with detailed knowledge about the candidates being considered for the job told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that Simmons’ appointment was virtually “a done deal”.
Even though Simmons is highly likely to get the job, the source revealed that there are six other candidates being considered for the post, which was vacated by Ottis Gibson in August 2014.
