“We’ve definitely choked in games before, but many other teams have choked”

South Africa pace bowler Dale Steyn has announced that he is determined to help his country shed their chokers tag.

The Proteas acquired the tag after having failed to impress in numerous World Cups and other big tournaments like the Champions Trophy.

“We’ve definitely choked in games before, but many other teams have choked,” Steyn was quoted as saying by the New Zealand Herald. “If you go down the history of teams knocked out of the cup, a lot of them have. But it’s a label that’s stuck with us.

“My personal view is that, as I’ve only been to one World Cup, it’s not cool to say to people who’ve never been before that you’re a choker. What can you do? There’s nothing you can do about it.”
