Six associate players from the International Cricket Council (ICC) Americas development squad are in with a shot of playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Those players are USA wicketkeeper-batsman Steven Taylor, Bermuda keeper Christian Burgess and Canada’s Nikhil Dutta, Nitish Kumar, Farhan Malik and Satsimranjit Dhindsa.
Initially, there were 14 players, but that number was cut down to six after an eight-day training camp in Barbados in December.
Each one of those players will compete against four West Indies Under-19 players in June for the last spot in every CPL franchise.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity to impress the CPL coaches and players and hopefully prove that North America can be a recruiting ground for the CPL and other first class teams,” Taylor said.
