Gloucestershire’s hopes of hosting a few matches during the 2019 World Cup have been dashed after Bristol council rejected their plans to install floodlights at Nevil Road.
According to sources, the plan to erect floodlights at the ground were rejected by a vote of five to four on Wednesday due to complaints about light pollution and the effect it will have on the city’s skyline.
“We are clearly disappointed with this delay and will now be taking some time to review our options,” Gloucestershire’s chief executive, Will Brown, said. “We would like to thank everyone who took part in our consultation and helped develop the plans.”
