After scoring an unbeaten 50 and taking one wicket, Australia all-rounder James Faulkner left the field with “side soreness” during the ODI tri-series final against England in Perth.
Faulkner suffered the injury midway through his third over, which had to be completed by opening batsman Aaron Finch after he left the field to seek medical attention.
“James Faulkner left the field with side (ribs) soreness,” Cricket Australia said via their Twitter account. “Medical staff will assess him and a further update will be provided in due course.”
Faulkner’s injury is a major blow for Australia, especially since the World Cup is only two weeks away.
