Australia batsman Steven Smith won the Allan Border Medal, Test Player of the Year award and ODI Player of the Year award at the Allan Border Medal award ceremony in Sydney.
Smith received 68 more votes than his closest competitor David Warner and 117 more votes than 2014 winner Mitchell Johnson.
When asked what his best moment of the past season was, Smith had no hesitation in pointing to his vital century in Centurion that paved the way for Australia to beat South Africa 2-1 in March last year.
“I think the first Test in South Africa probably wins, the best pace attack in the world and to get a hundred at Centurion against that attack was outstanding,” Smith said. “I think we’re doing really well at the moment, we’re certainly heading in the direction we want to head, so I couldn’t be happier with the way the boys are going.”
Smith also thanked Australia batting coach Michael Di Venuto, his family and his girlfriend Danni for all their support.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell edged out opening batsman Aaron Finch to win the Twenty20 International Player of the Year award.
