Melbourne Renegades all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan took four wickets to help his side crush the Brisbane Heat by five wickets.

Renegades captain Ben Rohrer would have been delighted with his decision to bowl first as the Heat never got out of the starting blocks.

Except for Ben Cutting, who made 30, and Peter Forrest, who scored 22, none of the other batsmen managed to reach double figures.

In fact, it was thanks to Cutting and Forrest that the Heat reached 80 before being bowled out.

Al Hasan caused the most damage with four wickets, while James Pattinson snapped up two and Fawad Ahmed, Nathan Rimmington and Ben Stokes chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 81 to win, the Renegades got off to an awful start as they were reduced to 39/5.

However, thanks to an unbeaten 42-run partnership between Tom Beaton and Rohrer, the Renegades cruised to a five-wicket win.

Daniel Christian was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Heat skipper James Hopes and Stephen Parry claimed one wicket each.

Al Hasan was named Man of the Match for his superb performance with the ball.
