“To win the World Cup, New Zealand will need to play [16] one-day matches from here, which will be exhausting”
Former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe has announced that he is concerned the Blackcaps will be exhausted when the 2015 World Cup gets underway on February 14.
New Zealand are currently playing Sri Lanka in a seven-match ODI series and will also face Pakistan in two ODIs before they take on Sri Lanka once again on the opening day of the World Cup.
“The 11th World Cup is just around the corner, yet New Zealand have a further [seven] games to play before they march out on February 14 to play the opening match against Sri Lanka,” Crowe wrote in his column for ESPNcricinfo. “To win the World Cup, New Zealand will need to play [16] one-day matches from here, which will be exhausting. This is my only concern as I assess their chances.”
