Shane Bond has announced that he will be stepping down as New Zealand’s bowling coach following the conclusion of the World Cup.
New Zealand Cricket’s (NZC) head of cricket Lindsay Crocker stated that Bond did not want to sign an extension.
“Make no bones about this – we’re very disappointed to be losing Shane,” Crocker said. “He’s given great value to the Blackcaps programme and we were hopeful of having the benefit of his input over the next few seasons. However, we respect his decision and his reasons for making that decision, and wish him well in his endeavours post-world cup.”
Bond, who became New Zealand’s bowling coach in October 2012, will be stepping down in order to coach the Mumbai Indians during the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
