Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale has announced that the Natwest T20 Blast should include city-based franchises.
Gale believes that the English Twenty20 tournament will become a lot more popular if they follow the steps taken by the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).
“How good is the big bash, we have to do something with our comp otherwise we’ll get left behind,” Gale said via his Twitter account. “Gotta inspire the kids.
“Franchise system would work in England. 10 cities, over 3 week period, straight after IPL. World’s best players, bigger crowds.”
Gale also wants to see two BBL teams and two English teams playing in each other’s competitions.
“Be good if 2 big bash teams played in our comp and 2 English teams played in their comp,” Gale tweeted.
