Melbourne Stars all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee following his side’s eight-wicket loss to the Adelaide Strikers in the inaugural match of the 2014-15 Big Bash League (BBL) season.

Maxwell was fined for hitting the advertising hoarding with his bat after he was dismissed by Adam Zampa for just seven runs.

Maxwell was charged for breaching Article 2.1.2 of Cricket Australia’s Code of Behaviour, which relates to abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match.

Since Maxwell accepted his fine, there will be no need for a formal hearing.
