Rupganj chairman Lutfar Rahman Badal has been banned for life from all cricket activities by the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) disciplinary committee following his outburst directed at BCB president Nazmul Hassan and two other directors.
Rupganj joint secretary Tarikul Islam and team manager Sabbir Ahmed were also banned for five and three years respectively since they allegedly intimidated and abused match officials.
The whole incident started after Rupganj’s Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match against Prime Bank Cricket Club on December 3.
Following Prime Bank Cricket Club’s 95-run win, Badal accused BCB officials of rigging league schedules and umpire appointments during all of his club’s matches. In addition to that, he also verbally abused BCB directors Khaled Mahmud and Ismail Haider Mallick.
Even though Badal apologised for his outburst just two hours before the BCB held their meeting, it was still not enough to save him from being banned for life.
