The Vatican cricket team held a memorial Mass in Rome in honour of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes on the eve of his funeral.
Hughes, who will be buried in his hometown of Macksville, tragically passed away at the age of 25 when he was struck on the side of the neck by a bouncer from New South Wales pace bowler Sean Abbott.
Team captain, the Rev. Anthony Currer, presided over the service on Tuesday evening, which was held at the Venerable English College.
Four other team members attended the service, along with the Australian ambassador to the Holy See John McCarthy, who delivered a touching eulogy to Hughes.
