Cricket Australia have confirmed that the first Test between Australia and India will be moved from the Gabba in Brisbane to the Adelaide Oval.
The first Test was initially scheduled to get underway on December 4, but due to the tragic death of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes, it has been postponed.
Hughes passed away at the age of 25 when he was struck on the side of the neck by a bouncer from New South Wales pace bowler Sean Abbott.
As a result of the tragedy, both Cricket Australia and the national players thought Adelaide would be a more appropriate venue for the first Test since it was Hughes’ adopted home ground for the past two summers.
It has also been announced that since the first Test has been moved to Adelaide, the second Test may be played in Brisbane.
