Australia captain Micahel Clarke has re-injured his hamstring and will take no further part in the ongoing first ODI against South Africa.
Clarke scored 11 runs before he was caught behind off the bowling of South Africa pace bowler Dale Steyn.
“Michael Clarke has re-injured his hamstring and will take no further part in today’s match,” team doctor Peter Brukner said. “Clarke is currently being assessed and will have a scan tomorrow. George Bailey will step up as captain.”
Clarke, who initially injured his hamstring during the tri-series against Zimbabwe and South Africa in August, will undergo scans on Saturday.
Clarke’s injury is a major blow for Australia, especially since the first Test against India is less than three weeks away.
