India pace bowler Praveen Kumar’s gold chain has been stolen from the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) dressing room while he was representing Uttar Pradesh in a one-day match against Rajasthan.
The incident took place on Monday evening and Kumar filed a complaint to the police on Tuesday.
Kumar stated that he left the gold chain, which is worth INR 800,000 (US$13,000), on a chair in the dressing room before the match started.
“After the match, Kumar went straight to the hotel but later realised that he had forgotten to collect the gold chain from the dressing room,” a police official said. “He immediately informed the VCA officials about it. However, a search by them proved futile.”
VCA president Prakash Dixit confirmed that the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
