Former India batsman Rahul Dravid has revealed that he had no idea that ex-head coach Greg Chappell wanted him replaced as captain prior to the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies.

Dravid’s comments come after iconic India batsman Sachin Tendulkar wrote in his autobiography, Playing It My Way, that Chappell had visited his house to try and convince him to take over the captaincy from Dravid.

“I haven’t really read the excerpts of that book,” Dravid told ESPNcricinfo. “Also I am not privy to any private conversation between two individuals. I have not heard about this before and I have no idea what happened and I would not want to make any comment.

“It’s been a long time and it does not make much of a difference to me now.”
