India pace bowler Varun Aaron sustained a leg injury during his side’s 169-run win over Sri Lanka in the first ODI in Cuttack.
Aaron strained his right quadricep muscle after bowling 4.1 overs, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have yet to reveal how serious his injury is.
“I think he was 70-30, so I didn’t want to push him and put him out for the whole season,” India stand-in captain Virat Kohli said after the match. “I didn’t want to take a chance and asked him to rest.”
India will be hoping Aaron’s injury is not that serious, especially since he is set to play a major role during their tour of Australia, which gets underway on December 4, and during their World Cup campaign as well.
