Australia left-arm pace bowler Doug Bollinger will represent the Sydney Sixers for the next two editions of the Big Bash League (BBL) after he signed a two-year contract.

Bollinger played for the Hobart Hurricanes last season and recently represented them in the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20), where he took nine wickets at a fantastic average of 16.

“I’ve been away over the winter and wanted to be home with the family over Christmas, and over the summer it’s a pretty good place to be,” Bollinger said. “The Sixers are a quality team and a quality side and they’re always a team that’s in the top three so it’s good to be joining those guys and playing with them year round (in addition to the Blues).

“It’s good to be around all the young guys and it keeps me trying to keep up with them and trying to help them along the way.

“Blokes like Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, it’s good to try to help them and teach them what I’ve learnt so that’s a very exciting part of being a part of the Sixers.”

Sixers head coach Trevor Bayliss added: “Doug has a lot of T20 experience…and he is a wholehearted bowler which makes him a crowd favourite. He’s now an experienced bowler who enjoys his role as the leader of the NSW bowling line-up.”
