India pace bowler Ishant Sharma has replaced fellow seamer Mohit Sharma in the ODI squad for the ongoing series against the West Indies after the latter aggravated his “bilateral shin pain”, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Even though Mohit has done extremely well in limiting the number of runs he concedes, he has failed to pick up many wickets. In fact, in the 11 ODIs Mohit has played thus far, he has only taken eight wickets at a disappointing average of 46.12.
Ishant’s last ODI for India came against New Zealand at the beginning of the year and he is returning to the ODI squad after missing the bilateral series against Bangladesh, the Asia Cup and the recent ODI series against England.
