Ashley Giles has revealed that he never had a problem with Kevin Pietersen when he was playing alongside him for England or when he was the acting head coach for two months.
Giles’ comments come after Pietersen revealed that bullying had been rife in the England dressing room.
“I was in the same dressing room and got on very well with Kevin,” Giles said. “But it was similar with the other guys as well, I coached them and I never had any major issues with any of them.”
However, Giles still believes that Pietersen is a “multi-million pound asset”, but added that his chances of representing England again are very slim.
“He would still consider himself a multi-million pound asset I’m sure,” Giles said. “He’s that sort of player, he’s ‘The Big Show’ if you like.
“But things have unfolded and he’s not going to play for England again by the looks of it. I’m sure it’s disappointing for him, but everyone has to move on.”
