India batsman Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies since he has failed to sufficiently recover from numerous injuries.

Sharma missed the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) after fracturing his finger and succumbing to a shoulder injury following the second ODI against England in Cardiff on August 27.

However, Sharma is likely to be available for the the three-Test series, which gets underway on October 30 in Hyderabad.

Since Sharma has been ruled out, it is understood that Ajinkya Rahane will continue to open the batting with Shikhar Dhawan.
