Four Pakistan cricketers have been fined 25 per cent of their monthly retainer for the next four months after they were found to be below their optimum level of fitness.

The four cricketers are newly appointed Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi, wicketkeeper-batsman Umar Akmal and the left-arm spin duo of Abdur Rehman and Raza Hasan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have started putting more emphasis on fitness and earlier this month, they warned players that they will be fined if they slip below their own optimum level of fitness.

Meanwhile, five players have been given bonuses for maintaining their peak fitness levels.

Shan Masood and Umar Amin will receive a 17.5 per cent bonus every month for the next four months, while captain Misbah-ul-Haq, Ahmed Shehzad and Bilawal Bhatti will get 10 per cent.
