South Africa could be without pace bowler Morne Morkel and all-rounder Jean Paul (JP) Duminy in the ODI tri-series final against Australia in Harare today.
Morkel is currently struggling with a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, while Duminy is nursing a left knee injury.

“MRI Scans were done on Morne’s right shoulder and JP’s left knee earlier this week,” South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee said. “Morne’s scan confirmed an aggravation of a pre-existing rotator cuff tear which has worsened due to a high workload in Zimbabwe, while JP’s scan confirmed a patella tendinopathy diagnosis.
“Both players have been managed through the last few games by physiotherapist Brandon Jackson but due to the worsening nature of their injuries recently, their availability for the final will be subject to a late fitness test in the morning.”
However, it is unlikely that South Africa will take any chances with Morkel and Duminy since they will both play vital roles in next year’s World Cup.
“We have an important six months coming up with the World Cup in sight, it’s important for the players to be fully fit,” Moosajee said.
