Northern Districts have suffered a major blow prior to the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) after New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori ruled himself out of the tournament due to personal reasons.
The Northern Districts will now find it much tougher to get past the qualifying stages of the tournament as they have to play the Mumbai Indians, South Express and Lahore Lions.
“I really love playing for ND and to do so on a world stage would have been a real highlight,” Vettori was quoted as saying via a press release.
Northern Districts chief executive Peter Roach confirmed that the team are currently looking for a replacement for Vettori.
“There’s no guarantee, but we think Dan’s exceptional circumstances should be viewed favourably,” Roach said.
