Veteran Pakistan batsman Younis Khan will miss the remainder of the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka following the death of his nephew.

Khan, who was hoping to use this series as a launching pad to extend his ODI career until the 2015 World Cup, will return to Karachi.

“I am deeply saddened at the passing away of your nephew. Please accept my condolences, and convey these to your family as well,” Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan said in a message to the 36-year-old.

The PCB also announced that they will not be sending a replacement for Khan.

Pakistan currently lead the three-match series 1-0 following their tense four-wicket win in Hambantota. The second ODI between the two nations will take place on August 26 in Hambantota and the third will be held in Dambulla on August 30.
