Pakistan pace bowler Junaid Khan has been ruled out for the remainder of the second Test against Sri Lanka after he was struck on the right side of his head by a bouncer from Dhammika Prasad on the third day.

Despite being hit on the side of the head, Khan managed to bat on and score an unbeaten 13. However, he needed medical attention later on as he lost his balance upon reaching the dressing room.

“The impact of the hit was hard and the doctor has advised him [to take] two days of rest,” Pakistan team manager, Moin Khan, said. “There is no fracture nor internal bleeding reported, so his tests are clear. But there is some swelling and he can’t field because it hurts. He is talking and eating normally but there is a slight concussion which will recover with rest.”

It is understood that Khan will be fit for the three-match ODI series, which gets underway on August 23 in Hambantota.
