Legendary India batsman Sunil Gavaskar has slammed the national team for their horrendous performance against England during the fourth Test at Old Trafford.

India were bowled out for 152 and 161 in the fourth Test, which allowed England to win by an innings and 54 runs and take a 2-1 lead in the series as well.

“There were was no backbone shown by India,” Gavaskar told BBC Radio’s Test Match Special. “They showed no determination, the dismissals were soft, there were no great deliveries, England were just persistent. You could see Indian heads go down and thereafter there has been no thinking of ‘let’s fight’.”
