Cricket Australia have removed a video entitled “Future dire for Prior”, which features a montage of mistakes by England wicketkeeper Matt Prior, after they were accused of breaching the copyright laws by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The ECB claims that Cricket Australia breached their copyright rules since all the footage belonged to News International, who own Sky.

The ECB were also insulted by the video as they believed it was mocking Prior. However, Cricket Australia insisted that it reflected the ongoing debate in the UK press about whether Prior stepped down from international duty due to his Achilles injury or his lack of form behind the stumps and with the bat as well.

“Cricket.com.au now operates as an independent news outlet as part of a joint venture with Nine Entertainment Co,” a Cricket Australia spokesman told ESPNcricinfo. “They chose to publish the story and accompanying vision as it reflected media commentary taking place in the UK at the time.”
