The Barbados Tridents snuck past the Antigua Hawksbills by one wicket to keep them winless for five consecutive matches in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Despite a brilliant 66 by Antigua captain Marlon Samuels, his team came up short largely thanks to Barbados pace bowler Ravi Rampaul, who took four wickets.

Barbados skipper Kieron Pollard who have been delighted with his decision to bowl first as Antigua lost their top four batsmen for just 24 runs.

Rampaul was responsible for three of the wickets, while Akeal Hosein ran out Danza Hyatt for a golden duck.

Samuels and Australia all-rounder David Hussey stemmed the bleeding with a 51-run partnership before Hussey was caught by Jonathan Carter at deep midwicket off the bowling of Ashley Nurse.

Samuels went on to score 66 off 55 balls, which included four boundaries and four sixes, before he was caught by Nurse off the bowling of Pollard.

Pollard struck again just five balls later when Carlos Brathwaite was caught by Rayad Emrit for a quickfire 17.

Sheldon Cottrell failed to trouble the scorers as he was clean bowled by Rampaul for a duck.

Thanks to Samuels, Antigua finished on 129/8 off their 20 overs.

Rampaul was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Pollard snapped up two and Nurse chipped in with one.

Chasing 130 to win, Barbados got off to a horrible start as opening batsman Dwayne Smith was caught by Brathwaite off the bowling of Cottrell for a duck.

Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik made 18 runs before he was caught by Miguel Cummins at short fine leg off the bowling of Brathwaite.

Shane Dowrich also made 18 runs before he was caught by Hyatt at cover off the bowling of Ben Laughlin.

Pollard failed to save his team as he was caught by Hussey at midwicket off the bowling of Brathwaite for 14 runs.

Carter was the top-scorer for Barbados with 35 runs, which came off 34 balls and included five boundaries, before he was run out by Cottrell.

Following Carter’s dismissal, Barbados’ lower order completely collapsed as they went from 103/5 to 128/9.

However, despite the late flurry of wickets, Barbados managed to crawl their way across the finish line with two balls to spare.

Cottrell and Brathwaite took two wickets apiece, while Laughlin and Brad Hogg claimed one wicket each.

Rampaul was named Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling figures of 4-15 off four overs.
