Barbados Tridents opening batsman Dwayne Smith hammered a highly entertaining century to lead his side to comfortable 29-run win over the St Lucia Zouks in Barbados.

However, St Lucia batsman Keddy Lesporis deserves some credit as well for his valiant unbeaten half-century.

St Lucia captain Darren Sammy would have been pleased with his decision to bowl first early on in the match as Barbados opener Shane Dowrich was caught behind off the bowling of Sohail Tanvir for a golden duck.

However, from this point on, Sammy would not have been smiling any more as Smith and Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik amassed a 110-run partnership, during which Smith brought up his half-century, before Malik was clean bowled by Tino Best for 49, which came off 37 balls and included four boundaries.

Smith and skipper Kieron Pollard took Barbados to 186/2 off their 20 overs with an unbeaten 58-run partnership, during which Smith registered his century.

Smith finished on 110 off 69 balls, which included seven boundaries and an incredible eight sixes, while Pollard remained undefeated on 18 off 14 deliveries, which included one six.

Tanvir and Best picked up one wicket apiece.

Chasing 187 to win, St Lucia got off to a poor start after opening batsman Johnson Charles was run out by Ravi Rampaul for 12.

Henry Davids managed to make 22 runs before he was caught by Smith at deep midwicket off the bowling of Jason Holder.

Andre Fletcher scored 27 before he was also caught by Smith, but only off the bowling of Rayad Emrit.

Sammy failed to save his team as he was caught by Jonathan Carter at third man off the bowling of Jeevan Mendis for a duck.

Despite an unbeaten 78-run partnership from Tanvir and Lesporis, St Lucia fell short of their target by 29 runs.

Lesporis ended up making 50 off 38 balls, which included six boundaries and a six, while Tanvir scored 38 off 18 deliveries, which included one boundary and four sixes.
