Legendary Australia captain Ricky Ponting has announced that he believes England skipper Alastair Cook is not “going to get any better as a player”.

Ponting’s comments come after Cook only managed to score 37 runs at a dismal average of 12.33 in the first two Tests against India.

“He’ll try and find ways to sort of hang on and maintain a certain level,” Ponting told ABC. “There’s no doubt that the struggles of his team will be having a big impact on the way that he’s playing. I don’t think he’s going to get any better as a player.”
