Anderson allegedly abused and pushed Jadeja during the first Test in Nottingham

England pace bowler James Anderson’s hearing will be held on August 1, which is just a day after the conclusion of the third Test against India in Southampton, via videoconference.

The date was decided by judicial commissioner, Gordon Lewis, during Tuesday’s preliminary hearing into the Level 3 charge against Anderson. The fast bowler has been accused of abusing and pushing India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja during the second day of the first Test in Nottingham.

Lewis will have 48 hours to decide on the verdict after the hearing on August 1.

“If required, he will also decide on the sanctions to be imposed, date from when the suspension will be enforced and the process for right of appeal,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) said via a release.

If Lewis finds Anderson not guilty, “then it remains open to him, at his discretion, to find the player or player support personnel guilty of an offence of a lower level than that with which he has been charged.”

The ICC also announced that match referee David Boon will look into Jadeja’s Level 2 charge.

As of right now, there has been no word on when Jadeja’s hearing will be.
