Zimbabwe Cricket have decided to terminate the Southern Rocks franchise since they were seen as the most financially unstable team.
The decision to terminate the Southern Rocks franchise comes after the country’s national and domestic cricketers were not paid for four months. This led to a strike, which caught the attention of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
In March, ICC CEO David Richardson and chief financial officer Faisal Hasnian flew to Zimbabwe and recommended a number of cost-cutting measures, which included reducing the number of domestic franchises.
