Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been dropped for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, while veteran batsman Younis Khan has been recalled into the ODI squad.
Hafeez will be replaced by Umar Akmal, who has not played Test cricket for nearly three years.
Hafeez has been struggling with the bat and only scored 102 runs in 10 innings last year.
Khan meanwhile has not played an ODI since 2013 and will replace Asad Shafiq on the roster.
The other major change was the inclusion of left-arm pace bowler Wahab Riaz, who will be taking fellow pace bowler Umar Gul’s spot in the team.
Gul re-aggravated his knee injury while representing the MCC in the Lord’s Bicentenary match.
Riaz has not played a Test match since 2011 and was recently fined Rs. 500,000 (approximately $5000) for playing in a cricket tournament in the United States without permission.
The national selectors have also snubbed wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal, who is still recovering from a finger injury, for Sarfraz Ahmed.
