New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori has signed with the Jamaica Tallawahs for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The Tallawahs, who won the inaugural season of the CPL, signed Vettori as a replacement for legendary Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan as he is unavailable for the tournament.

“It’s a privilege to be able to step in and help the Tallawahs defend their title,” Vettori said. “Having heard so many positive words about the CPL from my fellow cricketers, when the opportunity to come to the Caribbean and play in arguably one of the world’s most flamboyant and exciting T20 competitions came along, I couldn’t turn it down.”

The Tallawahs’ first match will be against the St Lucia Zouks on July 12.
